Andrzej Dobrowolski
The Polish composer Andrzej Dobrowolski was born in Lwów in 1921. He studied organ and composition and taught music theory and composition at the in University of Music in Warsaw before he came to Graz in 1976. Here he went on to become the Dean of the Department of Composition at the College of Music (today University of Music and Performing Arts) and as a lecturer he considerably influenced new music in Styria. To commemorate his achievements the land Styria established a composition prize that is awarded every three years and named after the artist, who passed away in 1990.
