Alexander Chernyshkov is a composer, improviser based in Vienna whose work explores the physical transformation of sound. He builds acoustic and mechanical sound bodies from pipes, motors, relays, and electromagnets, extending instruments through tangible means. At the centre of his practice is performative music theatre, Error Theater, which embraces provoked misunderstandings, unpredictability, incompleteness, and continual transformation as compositional principles. His artistic language moves between constructed instruments, unstable dramaturgies, and improvisation, linking experimental sound research with theatrical situations in which failure, friction, and change are not obstacles but essential expressive material.
