2x LIVE - Ö1 program with audience

Together with live interview guests, Wolfgang Poppr will dive into the program of steirischer herbst and musikprotokoll in a Kulturjournal Spezial from steirischer herbst. What is the focus of this year's musikprotokoll? To what extent does it reflect discourses and trends in contemporary music production?

The provocative motto of steirischer herbst is "NEVER AGAIN PEACE" - how is this theme dealt with in drama and performance art? Will the festival once again live up to its claim of bringing together decidedly political art this year? This year's steirischer herbst exhibition is taking place in a former distillery, a complex of buildings that is both labyrinthine and difficult to navigate - what can be discovered there and how are current social and political conflicts negotiated?

A special highlight of the festival is Ö1 Klassik-Treffpunkt, which is broadcast live in front of an audience. The broadcast offers the opportunity to look behind the scenes of the festival and gain personal insights into the musicians’ lives and work. Elke Tschaikner’s guests include the composer Annette Schmucki, librettist Jasmin Schädler, and Sibylle Dienesch, director of the Graz Museum.

Also included this year are the members of the renowned Aleph Guitar Quartet—Andrés Hernández Alba, Tillmann Reinbeck, Wolfgang Sehringer, and Christian Wernicke—which is celebrating their fourth appearance at ORF musikprotokoll this year. The quartet was established in 1993 and has spent the past two decades on an exciting journey of discovery, advancing new works and 20th- and 21st-century playing techniques.
