Sounding Fragilities
Pia Palme
Sounding Fragilities

For three years, Pia Palme composed music and conducted research at the Center for Gender Studies at the University for Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG). Under the auspices of a PEEK project directed by Palme and titled On the Fragility of Sounds, she explored composition, music theater, and feminism from the point of view of a female artist. The results, among other things, included the acclaimed anthology Sounding Fragilities—coedited by performance scholar Irene Lehmann—and the performative call to action More Radically, consisting of text, video, and music, which Palme performs at the beginning of the program. The event also includes a conversation about the anthology, contemporary composition, fragility and research, feminist composition and womxn composers, politics, and artistic activity—an invitation to listen and join in the conversation!
